5:07 am
>> see, also i'm so glad you brought that up. the ads that they've been running for six months did not match president obama who didn't do the same at the debate. and then i thought that president obama was great last night. if you can figure out a way to poke a little fun at yourself, they would have forgiven him in an instant. instead, they first blamed jim lehrer, then nobody could just say, it wasn't the president's best debate. but not -- they're overwrought with anxiety about it and overcorrecting. so let's hear -- >> gretchen: let's hear the president when he made joke about himself last night. >> i've got to admit that even though my staff all came over early to get the show, i got left behind. but my understanding is that incredible show. 5:18 am
>> well, the majority of people in ohio and the polls that i have looked at and just from talking to people clearly believe that governor kasich is responsible. he came into office with an $8 billion shortfall, 78 cents in the rainy day fund, and he's fundamentally turned it around. he's doing what governor romney will do if president, lower taxes, balance the budget, less regulation. the basic formula for job creation and what people saw the other night was governor romney, a man who is confident in his plan, who has a plan, and who wants to lead this country forward. and so the majority of people who i talked to in ho had is backed up by the polls think john kasich is responsible for that; not the president. >> pete: attorney general, we'll leave it there and let us know as things go on in ohio. keep us up to date.
